Who’s There?
This project was created with Sem, Shalina, Eleonora and Yara, during the Minor of Cultural diversity at the Willem de Kooning Academy.
In this booklet we want to provide a safe space in which you can take a moment to reflect on your own current identity. The booklet contains 29 questions, ranging from silly to heartfelt, based on the goal of helping you explore your identity. You may answer any number of them, as many as you feel comfortable with, you can be as vague or as precise as you want. You may not know the answer to all of them, and that's okay. You can come back to them at a later point. In fact, we encourage you to come back to them. As identity is fluid and subject to change, be it through self-acceptance or major life experiences. You will probably feel different in 5 years than you do now.
The back of the booklet contains a glossary, in which you can find terms related to these questions. You can reference the glossary while answering the questions, or you could completely ignore it and feel your way through it. The laminated sheets allow you to change your answers as you please, since as your identity develops so might your answers. This booklet was inspired by how society forces many people into boxes, and how it's challenging to break through societal pressure.Let this booklet be your helping hand in exploring your identity and aid you disregarding societal pressures. - Yara, Sem, Shalina, Elenora and Alis
